Dedicated Server Rules and Guidelines
Dedicated servers are provided for the benefit of the Planetary Annihilation multiplayer community specifically for big games.

Unless explicit permission is granted for specific events such as tournaments the following rules apply:
- no personal or AI skirmish games
- no private games
- no friends only games
- no passworded games
- no private mods
- no sharing of the passwords
Anyone hosting games which violate these rules or the Community Rules and Guidelines will be banned from hosting.
Remember that you are here to play the game and not be a jerk. No spam, flaming, politics, abuse or hate speech.
Dedicated server passwords are provided to community members with experience in hosting big games.
The following have priority on the FFA dedicated server:
- WPMarshall streaming big games
- Elite Sardaukar
- Lula Mae
- Wonziu / NVIDA Poland when streaming big games
- big FFA’s that anyone can join
If you want to host then read the rules, talk to other hosts, learn how to host big games, then ask permission for access.
The dedicated servers can manage 20-25 FFA depending on system and play style. 20 FFA is the recommended max with up to 32 FFA on custom designed systems.
For team games shared is always preferred as every player in a shared team is combined into a single army. eg 6v6v6v6v6 with 30 players is 5 armies.
With unshared teams each player is a separate army. ie more like an FFA with static alliances.

Promotion in Community Chat
Please remember to promote any big games in community chat and allow as many people as possible to participate with 5 spectator slots always open.
When starting games please update community chat that the game has started and the number of free spectator slots open.
Spectators have little impact on these servers.
Game Over Timeouts and Replays
Replays are saved automatically after game over when the last client disconnects or after 3 minutes. Once the replay starts writing you cannot interact with the server until the replay has finished.
To make sure the server is available for more games all remaining clients will be disconnected 6 minutes after game over.

Maps For More Than 10 Players
Existing maps with custom landing zones will not work with more than 10 players. You will need to edit the custom landing zone rules to support more players.
You need to have at least one custom landing zone available per army. ie 16 FFA requires at least 16 custom landing zones, 24 FFA requires at least 24 custom landing zones, etc.
Dedicated Server Build
The dedicated servers use custom linux server builds natively compiled with latest Clang / LLVM 7 / ThinLTO on Ubuntu.
